Protect the Congo Basin

Africa has a green heart – a pulsing expanse of rivers and forests, rich in culture, wildlife and nature in all its diversity, with a vibrant population. The Congo Basin Forest is the world’s second largest tropical rainforest, covering 170 million hectares – that is more than 4 times the size of Germany. The unthinkable has now become a reality. Illegal and unsustainable logging, compounded by weak forest management, has resulted in the average loss of 374,000 hectares per year!
